What to Do This Week
Before you build a loop, diagnose whether you have one.
1. Calculate your self-service rate for the last three months, month by month. Not the quarter average — the monthly trend. Take the total number of customer-facing interactions (help center sessions, in-product AI queries, portal visits) that ended without a support ticket, and divide by total interactions. If the number is flat or moving by less than a percentage point a month, your system isn't compounding. It's static.
2. Pull the last 100 resolved tickets. Count how many became structured records. Not just "knowledge base articles" — any typed record: a known issue, a troubleshooting guide, a feature request, a bug report, a process update. If the number is under 20, your Improve stage isn't connected to your Collaborate stage. Every resolution your team did this month is a one-shot interaction — the learning evaporated at ticket close. This is the leak that keeps self-service flat.
3. Pick the single ticket type with the highest repeat volume. Write one definitive record for it and deploy it across every surface where that question gets asked. Help center, in-product, onboarding, any AI assistant you have. Track whether the same question type appears in the next 30 days.
